For more than 15 years, CycleOps has developed cutting-edge training tools for performance-minded cyclists. This relentless pursuit of innovation has helped cyclists and triathletes of all levels achieve their training goals.
CycleOps knows that races are often won in the off-season. CycleOps revolutionized the trainer category when it launched the world’s first fluid trainer, the predecessor of the popular Fluid2. CycleOps tested and refined its line of trainers by sponsoring Carmichael Training Systems, U.S. Postal Service and Slipstream Sports. In 2008, CycleOps launched its line of Pro Series trainers, including the CycleOps PowerBeam with integrated power measurement technology.
PowerTap was added to the CycleOps family after the company acquired innovative power meter technology and formed a pivotal relationship with sports physiologist Allen Lim, PhD, who was conducting groundbreaking research on training with power. The CycleOps PowerTap has become an invaluable training tool for pro cyclists – including world champions Cadel Evans and Taylor Phinney -- as well as ProTour teams Omega Pharma Lotto and the Cervelo Test Team. The highly recognizable yellow PowerTap CPU has also graced the handlebars of Ironman triathletes Linsey Corbin and Chris Lieto. At the 2009 Tour de France, CycleOps launched Joule, the world’s first cycling computer designed for athletes who train with any type of power meter.
In 2004, CycleOps paired its power meter technology with its indoor training expertise to create the Pro 300PT, a high-performance indoor cycle with integrated PowerTap technology and a true road fit and feel. Two American presidents, several Hollywood stars and numerous sports professionals, including the Toronto Maple Leafs, have welcomed the Pro 300PT into their gyms.
To support its full line of power products, CycleOps introduced PowerAgent software, which enables cyclists to download and analyze their training data. In addition to its long-standing relationship with CycleOps’ Director of Education Allen Lim, CycleOps has partnered with former professional rider Robbie Ventura and coach Angie Sturtevant to educate users on training with power.
